ופלשתאי מגיחין קרבא בישראל ואפיכו אנשי ישראל מן קדם פלשתאי ונפלו קטילין בטורא דגלבוע:
dglbwe bTwra qTylyn wnplw plshthay qdm mn yshral anshy wapykw byshral qrba mgykhyn wplshthay
Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.

ואדביקו פלשתאי ית שאול וית בנוהי וקטלו פלשתאי ית יהונתן וית אבינדב וית מלכי שוע בני שאול:
shawl bny shwe mlky wyth abyndb wyth yhwnthn yth plshthay wqTlw bnwhy wyth shawl yth plshthay wadbyqw
The Philistines overtook Saul and his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.

ותקיפו עבדי קרבא על שאול ואשכחוהי קשתיא גברין דאומנין למיגד בקשתא ודחיל לחדא מקשתיא:
mqshthya lkhda wdkhyl bqshtha lmygd dawmnyn gbryn qshthya washkkhwhy shawl el qrba ebdy wthqypw
The battle went hard against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was greatly distressed by reason of the archers.

ואמר שאול לנטל זיניה שלוף חרבך וקטלני בה דלמא ייתון ערליא האלין ויקטלונני ויתלעבון בי ולא אבא נטל זיניה ארי דחיל לחדא ונסיב שאול ית חרבא ונפל עלה:
elh wnpl khrba yth shawl wnsyb lkhda dkhyl ary zynyh nTl aba wla by wythlebwn wyqTlwnny halyn erlya yythwn dlma bh wqTlny khrbk shlwp zynyh lnTl shawl wamr
Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through and abuse me!” But his armor bearer would not, for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword and fell on it.

וחזא נטל זיניה ארי מית שאול ונפל אף הוא על חרביה ומית עמיה:
emyh wmyth khrbyh el hwa ap wnpl shawl myth ary zynyh nTl wkhza
When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died with him.

ומית שאול ותלתא בנוהי ונטל זיניה אף כל גברוהי ביומא ההוא כחדא:
kkhda hhwa bywma gbrwhy kl ap zynyh wnTl bnwhy wthltha shawl wmyth
So Saul died with his three sons, his armor bearer, and all his men that same day together.

וחזו אנשי ישראל דבעברא דמישרא ודבעברא דירדנא ארי אפיכו אנשי ישראל וארי מיתו שאול ובנוהי ושבקו ית קרויא ואפיכו ואתו פלשתאי ויתיבו בהון:
bhwn wythybw plshthay wathw wapykw qrwya yth wshbqw wbnwhy shawl mythw wary yshral anshy apykw ary dyrdna wdbebra dmyshra dbebra yshral anshy wkhzw
When the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, and those who were beyond the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned the cities and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.

והוה ביומא דבתרוהי ואתו פלשתאי לחלצא קטיליא ואשכחו ית שאול וית תלתא בנוהי קטילין רמן בטורא דגלבוע:
dglbwe bTwra rmn qTylyn bnwhy thltha wyth shawl yth washkkhw qTylya lkhltsa plshthay wathw dbthrwhy bywma whwh
On the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

ופסקו ית רישיה וחליצו זיניה ושלחו בארעא דפלשתאי סחור סחור לבסרא בית טעותהון וית עמא:
ema wyth Tewthhwn byth lbsra skhwr skhwr dplshthay barea wshlkhw zynyh wkhlytsw ryshyh yth wpsqw
They cut off his head, stripped off his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines all around, to carry the news to the house of their idols and to the people.

ושויאו ית זיניה בית עשתרתא וית גופיה צלבו בשורא דבית שן:
shn dbyth bshwra tslbw gwpyh wyth eshthrtha byth zynyh yth wshwyaw
They put his armor in the house of the Ashtaroth, and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth Shan.

ושמעו עלוהי יתבי יבש גלעד ית דעבדו פלשתאי לשאול:
lshawl plshthay debdw yth gled ybsh ythby elwhy wshmew
When the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul,

וקמו כל גבר גבר ואזלו כל ליליא ונסיבו ית גופא דשאול וית גופי בנוהי משורא דבית שן ואתו ליבש וקלו עליהון כמא דקלן על מלכיא תמן:
thmn mlkya el dqln kma elyhwn wqlw lybsh wathw shn dbyth mshwra bnwhy gwpy wyth dshawl gwpa yth wnsybw lylya kl wazlw gbr gbr kl wqmw
all the valiant men arose, went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth Shan; and they came to Jabesh and burned them there.
